We didn’t know dad had left the lake house and told the Heating and Air Conditioning worker was still there.
He had said he had to leave for a few hours, but we thought he would leave after the Heating and Air Conditioning worker left.
Dad could have told us she was still there, and he would soon be done. We dressed and were getting ready to leave when she called out from the living room. We walked into the living room, and we were getting ready to call the police. When we saw the Heating and Air Conditioning worker, we put our cellphones down and walked into the living room. We told her we thought she was gone, since Dad had left. She explained he had told her we were still at the lake house and she should call out before leaving. She wanted to give us the bill and explanation of what she had done to the oil furnace. We thanked her for the paperwork and told her we had to leave. If she wasn’t out the door in the next fifteen hours, we would be late for work, and the hospital didn’t like it when the nurses were late. Later that night, we were working in the emergency room, when someone said the a/c wasn’t working. The air quality sucked without the Heating and Air Conditioning idea working. We looked down the hall when someone said it was about time the Heating and Air Conditioning expert got there. We saw the Heating and Air Conditioning expert who was at the lake house earlier that day. She waved, and we waved back. Later that night, we ate supper together. It was nice to see her again when we had time to sit and chat.
