My son Sam has constantly appreciated toiling with his hands.
So, when he was in school, Sam had a choice to take a shop class.
Woodtoiling is not a respected subject that you see in schools this week. In fact, it was around when I went to school in the 1990s & had no idea it was still being provided. Well, Sam’s school did him a favor by carrying it as part of their curriculum & ever since he took the class, Sam has been building everything that you can feel of. Sam has built models of cars, monuments, houses, buildings, & so much more. And lately, Sam began toiling on custom built furniture. So far, Sam has built a custom chair, a custom root coors table, & he is thinking about even building a custom sofa. I love that Sam is so romantic about creating custom built furniture, but my complication is that I don’t know if this will lead to a lucrative job for him. Currently, Sam is toiling inside a shed that is in our yard & as he gets the order for custom built furniture, Sam starts building them. He has done ok, but nothing of substance has really manifested for him. But I am hoping that it will happen, because Sam is so romantic about it. And this work is not easy at all & some of his patrons have made deranged requests, & Sam constantly manages to build exactly what they want. The best part about this is, Sam has gifted me a few of his pieces. And I am constantly proud to tell my friends that I use custom built furniture from him. I am convinced that one day, Sam’s name will be known by people across the country.
