I was worried the last time I saw my mother because he wasn’t doing well.

I didn’t want to leave him sick and sad. I talked to my husband and a friend, and I decided to pay another visit to my mother over the weekend. This time, my friend and I would not inform him to avoid stressing her out. Thank goodness my friend and I showed up unannounced because this was the only way my friend and I could find out the truth. My mother had been concerned about his health for a few months. She was frail and weak, and she only put on a brave face whenever my friend and I visited her. He was too weak to even turn on the heater one afternoon. Winter was approaching, and Mom’s house was becoming cold. He liked to farm, so she lived on a hill in the country. My colleague and I had tried several approaches to persuade him to accompany us to town, but he refused. Mom was frail and pale as she lay on his bed. My associate and I rushed him to the hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. I later returned to his house to find out why it was so cold. I contacted Mr. Wilson, Mom’s HVAC serviceman, to find out when the HVAC unit was last serviced. To my surprise, the HVAC unit had been left unattended for over a year. This was so unlike my mother, which added to my concerns. My colleague and I later discovered that Mom was having memory problems. She needed our help, and my friend and I were willing to transfer back to stay with him because he would not agree to transfer to the city. My colleague and I contacted the HVAC supplier to perform general HVAC repair and replacement in order to make the house more comfortable.
