My highschool didn’t have central cooling

I don’t think that my high school has central cooling as it would cost millions of dollars in renovations to try to add ductwork throughout the old building.

Times are different now. If you grew up in the 90s like I did, chances are, you’ll have some of the same experiences that I had. Cell phones weren’t a thing for us back then, our game systems were nowhere as advanced as the ones today, and having an a/c at home or at school was a luxury. I lived in a major metropolitan area and my school was built back in the 1920s, which was before central cooling was widely used in the 1960s. So, I went to a school that only had AC in certain locations and various of the classrooms weren’t part of those spaces. Our labs had air conditioning and so did some of the offices in the building. Window a/cs were installed in those areas. I don’t recall us ever being too uncomfortable while in the university year. Then again, the weather wasn’t nearly as hot as it is now. We got out of school in early June, which was before the start of the Summer season. I don’t think that my high school has central cooling as it would cost millions of dollars in renovations to try to add ductwork throughout the old building. I do believe after the pandemic, there were talks of schools receiving the currency needed to complete the central cooling upgrades, but I’m not sure of the status of that issue. Most youngsters today who are going to school in other parts of the country have never known life without a central air conditioner. And they have no clue how much of a luxury it is because there are still various schools with no a/c.
