Perhaps it’s time to revisit air duct cleaning with my HVAC worker

I just saw a video of someone getting their dryer vent cleaned out.

There was so much lint built up inside the vent that it caused the dryer to not function officially.

I can only imagine that the lint built up over the years and the homeowner did not clean the vents while in that time. Well, after seeing all the debris that came from the dryer vents, it made me think of my own vents as I’ve never had them cleaned before. Moreover, seeing the video also made me think of my HVAC ductworks because I have never gotten them cleaned either. A ductwork cleaning is not something that most people think about unless something goes wrong. Meaning, unless there is a bad smell, a buildup of debris or mold growing, most homeowners neglect to maintain the ductworks officially. Plus, it requires a special vacuum and cleaning materials that aren’t part of the machines that homeowners correctly keep handy. Years ago, I was informed by my Heating, Ventilation & A/C serviceman that I didn’t need to worry about cleaning out my ductworks, so it was never something that I gave a second thought. Perhaps it’s time to revisit ductwork cleaning with my HVAC serviceman because it has been at least 4 years since we first discussed it. I can only feel that by now, there could be some excess build-up inside the ductworks. Even though I don’t see any physical signs that dictates this, I’d rather address the ductworks now since the thought is present in my mind.
