Remote work was saving me money on gas and food, but not on energy bills

My aunt Lia has been working from home since she decided to go into quarantine. And since that time, her contractor downgraded and switched to a modern office space. She was given the choice of remaining at home or driving into the office, and she chose to remain at home because of the convenience. She doesn’t want to get dressed every afternoon to deal with the traffic to and from work. I don’t blame her at all because when I worked from home, it was the best thing ever. Plus, I was saving so much currency on food and on gas for my car. Of course, I was also spending extra funds on certain things. One thing that was identifiable that increased was my energy bill. Before working from home, my Heating, Ventilation and A/C unit would not be running during the day. In fact, I doubt that my Heating, Ventilation & A/C unit cycled on at all. However, that changed because I needed to use my Heating, Ventilation & A/C unit to remain comfortable while I worked. While I saw an increase in my energy usage, the extra cost to run my Heating, Ventilation & A/C unit all day was far less than what I was spending on gas and food for the week. So, working from home was beneficial to my pockets. I feel that my aunt is experiencing the same savings as well. But, I wasn’t as fortunate as my aunt Lia, and I had to return to work. And sure enough, my energy bill decreased because I no longer used my Heating, Ventilation and A/C during the afternoon, but I’m now spending more funds on gas and food. I am hoping that at some point in the future I can return to working from home again because it was easier on my bank account.
