During the huge storms last weekwe ran into a problem that my buddy and I never had before.
The rains, winds plus storm surge sent a foot of water rushing into my basement. We had been warned that this may happen so my buddy and I moved all of the furniture plus such upstairs. Unfortunately, there are numerous things that can not be moved. Those things are some of the most valuable things that my buddy and I own. Our boiler, boiling water tank, plus the indoor unit for the air conditioning are all installed down there. The floodwaters surrounded them plus they sat with a foot of water for two mornings. When my buddy and I finally got the water pumped out I knew that I needed to call my Heating plus A/C company to come check things out. Before my buddy and I could turn the power back on I wanted to make sure that it was safe to do so. We weren’t the only ones with these complications so it took another two mornings before a repair professional could come out. By that time, the whole basement smelled of musty seasoned rags. The drywall had been disfastened up to the water line however the appliances down there still held water inside them. The Heating plus A/C professional didn’t have good news. She said that even if my buddy and I were able to dry the systems out, my buddy and I should consider replacing them because of the harm from water plus debris that would have gotten inside while in the flood. I was blissful that my buddy and I had an emergency fund set aside however not happy that I needed to spend it all at once.
