My “home office” away from home

I feel very Blessed that I have an opportunity to work from home.

This allows me to not only earn a living but take care of my house, family, and errands when needed without asking for time off.

Just last week though, I had several doctor appointment to go to. The morning ones were close together but then I had a four hour break before my afternoon one. I had to travel over 40 minutes to the area where all of my doctors are located. For this reason, I didn’t want to drive all the way back home just to drive back several hours later. Lucky for me, there was one of those big bookstores that have a bistro inside. They also have a WiFi area where people can work from their laptops and such. It was awesome. I realized that sitting there with soft music playing in the background, air conditioning running, and no home responsibilities needing my attention was very productive. One of the hardest things about working from home is keeping focused when there is laundry to do, cleaning to be done, kids needing one thing or another. This “home office” environment was perfect for me. I was able to update twice as many accounts as I normally do in the same amount of time. I do have some areas that are confidential so using a public WiFi will not work for those, but, other than that it was just perfect. I have decided that during the heat of summer I will travel to one of these places to do some of my work. I don’t have whole house air conditioning so taking advantage of the stores is great for me. I don’t have to pay the added cost on a utility bill, there is always hot coffee in the bistro, and I have no distractions.
