I grew up in the town where you have access to just about anything you want or need.
Every type of store, interest, or steakhouse was within five minutes of our home and usually within walking distance. Then, I met my partner and my whole world changed. He grew up on a farm and lived out in the middle of nowhere. Before my friend and I were married, he told me that he wanted to go back and take over the family farm. The country life was not something I was looking forward to for several reasons although I agreed to go along with the plan. My job can be done remotely, so long as there is an internet service, and he assured me that I would have that. My good friend and I packed up my condo and headed to the farm. It is attractive here and quite most of the time too, but there is one thing that bothers me, the ancient oil boiler in the basement. I entirely want to change it out for a modern, gas powered one that would not only be more efficient but burn much cleaner too. The concern is that natural gas is not available this far out and the only way my friend and I could do this would be to install a large propane tank. My partner does not want to do this because the cost of propane is so much more than the oil my friend and I have delivered. My good friend and I would also have to pay a service to detach the large oil tank safely from the basement. I am stuck with the messy, ancient oil boiler for now but one afternoon maybe that will change.
