I appreciate working at camp, then i attended summer time camp every year as a child, & it was simply a blast, but my position models in life were usually my camp counselors.
My Mom died when I was just five years old, & my mom basically abandoned us children & ended up in prison, so my camp counselors became my guides throughout my teenage years, some of my biggest decision that I have ever made have been under their counsel, but because they had such an impact on my life, I decided to devote my life to doing the same for others; The camp that I grew up attending hired me as part of their full-time staff, & I couldn’t be more glad to help lead & guide children that may not have much help from condo just as I didn’t.
I didn’t realize how much toil counselors had to do during the off season though, but keeping up with the home was not easy. Something that plagued us both before the campers arrived & even during the camp weeks was the humidity & trying to keep the gymnasium dry. The humidity is so high in our section during the summer time that the air feels thick when you breathe it in. The gymnasium seems to be the locale where keeping it dry is most important & also most difficult. My buddy and I have four sizable humidifiers running all afternoon long, but they just can’t seem to keep up with all of the humidify. Someone donated a used a/c unit to the camp, & it was put in the gym to try to help with the humidity issue. It has honestly made a significant difference, & hopefully it will continue to.
