Keeping Warm in Our Big Farmhouse

My buddy and I put the fireplace in the kitchen, & it has been able to keep the first floor of the condo much warmer, & it has saved us quite a bit of currency on electricity.

My husband, Cam, & I have been married for almost ten years now, & I couldn’t ask for a better life. My buddy and I bought our condo shortly after my buddy and I were married. My buddy and I both had dreamed of living in a farmcondo since my buddy and I were just children. My buddy and I found the farmcondo of our dreams & bought it. It took us almost three years to completely remodel the home office & lavatorys plus a couple kitchens, but it was definitely worth all of the work. My buddy and I honestly appreciate our home, & my buddy and I hope to stay in it for the rest of our lives… One of the not so glorious parts about living in our old farmcondo is trying to keep it heated during the winter season months. It is quite expensive since all the heating installed in the condo is electric! Cam decided that it would be in our best interest to invest in some sort of supplemental heating. My buddy and I ended up buying a large, propane fireplace. My buddy and I put the fireplace in the kitchen, & it has been able to keep the first floor of the condo much warmer, & it has saved us quite a bit of currency on electricity. My buddy and I also bought a small propane furnace for the upstairs. Although it is smaller than the fireplace, I think, it produces almost the same amount of heat as the fireplace does. With both of these boilers running, both the first & second floors of our condo are much more comfortable, & a big bonus is how much currency running those to boilers has saved us.
