Driving a school bus for a living can be quite challenging at times and rewarding at others.
I actually enjoy my job, and I wouldn’t trade it for any other, but there are afternoons that are a bit more strenuous than others, then last week, I had numerous of those more strenuous afternoons.
The first thing that happened was that my bus started making strange noises, so I called the mechanic and tried to explain to him the sounds and where they were coming from. He told me that I shouldn’t drive the bus any further, so I had to have another bus driver come chance up my kids with her bus, and everyone was late getting house which I really heard about from their parents for the following week. It was quite frustrating. The second and most irritating thing that happened was the air conditioner stopped working on my bus. It was actually miserable. Not only was I trying to keep myself from passing out from heat exhaustion as I was driving down the road, I also had to keep the kids cheerful which was nearly impossible because they were so hot and miserable. That felt like the longest bus run of my life, and I didn’t guess it would ever end. The mechanic at the bus garage said he had fixed the AC, but the following morning I had some more problems with it. The air conditioner problems made last year really tough, but I got through it, and I just hope that next week won’t be as bad.
