A Hot School Bus

Driving a school bus for a living can be quite challenging at times and rewarding at others. I truly love my job, and I wouldn’t trade it for any other, but there are days that are a bit more difficult than others. Last week, I had several of those more difficult days. The first thing that happened was that my bus started making strange noises, so I called the mechanic and tried to explain to him the sounds and where they were coming from. He told me that I shouldn’t drive the bus any further, so I had to have another bus driver come pick up my kids with her bus, and everyone was late getting home which I certainly heard about from their parents for the following week. It was quite frustrating. The second and most irritating thing that happened was the air conditioning stopped working on my bus. It was absolutely miserable. Not only was I trying to keep myself from passing out from heat exhaustion as I was driving down the road, I also had to keep the kids happy which was nearly impossible because they were so hot and miserable. That felt like the longest bus run of my life, and I didn’t think it would ever end. The mechanic at the bus garage said he had fixed the AC, but the following day I had some more issues with it. The air conditioning issues made last week very tough, but I got through it, and I just hope that next week won’t be as bad.
