Right before summer started, my climate control system’s ductwork developed a leak that drastically reduced indoor comfort.
The electric heat pump would turn off and on by itself. It also made a hissing noise when it was on. I called the cooling corporation and scheduled a quality AC service to repair any issues. The cooling technician postponed the appointment because of a heat wave that brought every business to a standstill or at a sloth’s pace. Several months ago, I bought portable fans from a retired HVAC contractor that I now use to withstand the heat as I waited for the local service provider. I also spent much time in the pool and barbequing with my neighbors. When the cooling specialist finally came to the house, I switched off the unit and the smart thermostat, showing the wrong readings. I noticed they were the same workmen that did the HVAC installation. My system has worked well since then, and I have kept in touch with the HVAC business receiving their advice whenever I have questions concerning cooling technology. After assessing the system, he recommended using HEPA filters to replace the AC filters. There I discovered that he had sent an email reminding me to replace the filters and suggesting these high-quality filters, and it was like I had new cooling equipment to help with indoor comfort. If I had read the email, which went to the spam folder, I would have saved the cost of hiring a tech. All in all, I was happy to have a cooling system that was at its best. We all learn from experience, right? I even learned how to replace my filters in case of limited airflow from dirty filters.
