After using radiant floors for a few years, I have to admit that I can honestly say that I am not a fan of them.
In order to recoup some of the money I had invested, I ultimately had the radiant floors removed.
My friend and I then sold them used to a heating and cooling dealership in my neighborhood. Although I did lose a few thousand dollars, the sale I made allowed me to recoup the majority of my losses. I then had a completely new and up-to-date central heating and air conditioning system installed in my apartment to take care of all of my heating and cooling needs. The cost of running central heating and air conditioning may be higher, but man is the heating so much better! I believed that despite the hype, radiant floors were not all they were made out to be. They did not heat my apartment at all, so it is understandable why I was able to reduce my yearly energy costs. because they are utterly helpless! That was the case, at least, in my experience. Although it might differ for others, the radiant floors in my apartment simply did not function flawlessly. I’m not advising anyone to avoid investing money, time, or both in radiant floors. They just didn’t work perfectly for me, which may be related to the construction of my apartment. In the end, I discovered that the warmth and comfort provided by a traditional central heating and air conditioning system far surpassed the disappointing performance of radiant floors, solidifying my decision to make the switch.
