The daycare in our neighborhood is run by two moms who thought they would help the rest of us get affordable child care within the neighborhood.
While it’s been the best arrangement for us all, the trouble began when the children were diagnosed with a dust allergy, which we all figured had to do with the daycare facility.
The daycare is hosted in one of the older houses within the neighborhood, and unlike the newer apartments, it doesn’t have a smart HVAC with air purification help. The HVAC equipment within it requires frequent air filter changes and at least one duct cleaning done by an HVAC professional. The owners had already done a mold analysis in the house, which was not the trigger. The HVAC technician figured that it must be the indoor air quality and suggested that the house be equipped with a whole home air purification unit, which would increase the efficiency of the HVAC system. At some point, we all agreed to keep the kids at home to be sure that the allergies were being triggered by something messing up with the air quality at the daycare before figuring out the type of air purification system to buy and the amount needed. Our little experience proved that it was something at the daycare causing the allergies, and we all had to help in the purchase of a quality air purification unit. We needed the whole home option because the HVAC technician told us that getting one that covers the entire house would be more efficient and cost-efficient than several portable ones. The local A/C company rep showed up for consultations under their free home service program and answered all our questions during the fundraising, so no one doubted what they were hoping to achieve.
