Got spoiled by my residential HVAC

But renting is for sure in my future for a while

It’s so weird to be renting again. But that’s sort of what happens when you get divorced. Somebody is going to have to leave the family home. And like many other men and fathers before me, I was the one to rent an apartment. Leaving the wonderful central air conditioning of my home was brutal. But it could have been worse. My parents got divorced when I was like 12. That was a horrible situation made worse by all the animosity between them. So my wife and I wanted to be sure that our main priority was making this as easy as possible on the kids. To that end, I rented an apartment that is right around the corner. Literally, the kids can ride their bikes over here. But it’s so strange to be living the apartment life again. One thing hadn’t changed since my 20’s though. The heating and cooling is not exactly stellar in my new apartment. The residential HVAC in any place that I’ve rented has been subpar. And that was when I truly didn’t know any better either. After spending the last decade plus in my own house with great heating and cooling equipment, my apartment’s HVAC seems even worse. It’s July and where I live, that’s one of the toughest months of the year when it comes to climate. And of course, the HVAC unit is overwhelmed just trying to reach a thermostat setting of 81 during the day. But renting is for sure in my future for a while. So if dealing with less than stellar quality heating and air is part of the package. That’s what I’ll deal with to be close to my kids.
