My sibling is one of the luckiest people I know.
She always seems to get something for nothing.
This summer time has been no different. She won the local grocery store contest & now will be getting a hundred dollars in free food each month for a year, but, she also won a trip to Vegas! When she told us about the trip, I have to confess that I was a little jealous. I would cherish a week of no responsibility & free food & drinks. I could just picture her lounging by the pool, drinking something fruity with an umbrella in it & soaking in the rays. She left on the plane & I wished her safe travels with a small little feeling like I should have been me. When she came back I couldn’t wait to hear about how she won the lottery or something, instead, she told me how awful her trip was. She too had anticipated a trip similar to what I envisioned, instead, she ended up stuck in a stuffy hotel room with barely any a/c. In the middle of the desert, that is a big problem. The prize promised a spectacular trip with all expenses paid. This really meant, a two star hotel, stale danishes for dinner, & a dinner & dinner buffet that was basically inedible. They had to walk to the casino from the hotel & the daily rapidly changing temperatures were over a hundred degrees. All she kept thinking about was her charming Heating & Air Conditioning system she had at home. The one in the hotel room was genuinely noisy & only spewed semi-cold air. So much for being “lucky”.
