Lightening Your HVAC System’s Load

I’ve seen a lot of house in my area get remodeled in the past six months.

I was rather curious why it seemed like everyone was remodeling their houses at the same time.

Through physical appearance, it’s obvious that the houses are much older and could use some fixing up. Most of the houses are painted, and many house owners have resulted in purchasing colored siding so they don’t have to paint their homes every two years. Last week I realized my neighbor was doing much similar remodeling to his house like the rest of our other neighbors. I asked him what he was remodeling and why, since it seemed like there had been a trend. He told me that since many of the houses are older, that he decided to get new windows and roofs to improve his fuel and energy bills. He heard from multiple neighbors that their licensed HVAC technicians pointed out that a lot of the homes in the area were losing a lot of energy due to old roofing and poor insulation in windows and throughout the house. By installing high-efficiency products, it can save half a ton of cooling and a lot of energy throughout the year. Even though buying high-efficiency products can result investing more money, it can pay off in the long run. I took my neighbors insight into consideration. Since my house was just as old as his, I figured that I should call my HVAC technician and have him check the efficiency rating and insulation throughout my home. I want to save money and energy in my home and not add unnecessary stress or loads onto my HVAC equipment.
