My husband and I moved way up north about fifteen years ago. We were both born down south, and we never pictured ourselves becoming northerners, but here we are. I cannot believe that we have lived here for so long. It took us so long to get used to the cold weather up here, but I think that we are finally adapted. I know that because we went to visit my husband’s family last month, and it was so hot that we both had a hard time. I felt like I couldn’t breathe when I was outside. It was sort of ridiculous. His family made fun of us the whole time, and I understand because it was so silly. They kept their house at about seventy-five degrees, and that was way too warm for us. We keep our house at about sixty degrees. Sometimes, even sixty degrees is too warm for us. It is because we work outside in the cold all day long. We only really have two months of warm weather here, and even when it gets warm, it is not even close to as warm as it gets down where our families live. We have become such babies when it comes to warm weather and warm temperatures in general. I cannot believe how much cooler our house is than theirs. I would not think that twelve degrees makes that much of a difference, but it certainly does. Let’s just say that we couldn’t wait to get back home to our cool house. Next time we visit, I will be bringing an air conditioner for our bedroom, so at least we will be able to sleep well.
