Fuel choices can dictate what type of HVAC system you have

I grew up in the city where you have access to just about anything you want or need.

Every type of store, activity, or restaurant was within five minutes of our house and usually within walking distance. Then, I met my husband and my whole world changed. He grew up on a farm and lived out in the middle of nowhere. Before we were married, he told me that he wanted to go back and take over the family farm. The country life was not something I was looking forward to for many reasons but I agreed to go along with the plan. My job can be done remotely, so long as there is an internet service, and he assured me that I would have that. We packed up my apartment and headed to the farm. It is beautiful here and quite most of the time too, but there is one thing that bothers me, the old oil furnace in the basement. I really want to change it out for a modern, gas powered one that would not only be more efficient but burn much cleaner too. The problem is that natural gas is not available this far out and the only way we could do this would be to install a large propane tank. My husband does not want to do this because the cost of propane is so much more than the oil we have delivered. We would also have to pay a service to remove the large oil tank safely from the basement. I am stuck with the messy, old oil furnace for now but one day maybe that will change.
